Great spot for a smash burger. Good size burger - get the double. Fries are good too. The one in Marina is also great.
Great burger. Slow to get food out (I think they have a small cooktop in the back and can only do 4 burgers at a time or something?) Love me a spicy hiho double and some fries. Was excited to go here after coming back home after a year but the dudes working were happier to socialize and were kinda rude when I got to the counter. Burger was delightful.
I stopped by yesterday and got the HiHo Double. The double wagyu beef patty was substantial, moist and delicious. I also loved the sauce and ingredients that came with it: slow-cooked onions, lettuce, house-made pickles and grilled mustard. Next time, I am tempted to try the hot version (which comes with Serrano peppers) for $1.75 more. The fries were just ok. I wish they had sprinkled some fresh parsley or oregano to elevate the flavors of the fries. I also wish the menu offered sweet potato fries. Service was good. Ambiance was dark and causal. All in all, the hamburger was amazing. I will definitely come back for that! This location is located in the 3rd street promenade area. There is free garage parking nearby.
Excellent service. The staff went above and beyond - making changes to our order last minute, clearing our plates, making sure we had everything we needed. You could tell each staff member took pride in their work as if the restaurant was their own. Very friendly too. Food was great as well. Solid burgers. Good fries. This review was mainly for their service. Excellent!
Been waiting years to try this place. I'm a smash enthusiast, and this place was on top of alot of smashburger lists, so I came to try. The outer appearance of the building was straight and to the point. I liked the wood esthetic inside, it went well with the wagyu burger vibe. Me and Hubby ordered two different burgers so we could sample each other's. The order taker answered the questions we had. The classic cut fries were freakin fabulous. Have to limit my fried foods, so it was hard to stop after having just one. The burger? I've never had one so soft in every aspect. The sauce, the textures, absolutely perfect. I now know why it's #1. Not really in Santa Monica often. But if I'm ever near another location, DEFINITELY coming back!
Food: I ordered 1.HiHo Double : Wagyu patties just melt in your mouth! So soft, so smooth, so good! 2. From Scratch Fries : Fresh, thick, warm and perfectly salted. Good Fries. Service : Excellent! Reasonable wait times and friendly staffs Ambiance : Clean and casual. It's a good affordable place to experience wagyu beef. I also appreciate that they are a no tipping establishment. I'm definitely a recurring customer.
The hype is very well deserved. The patty is the star of the show - New Zealand Wagyu Beef, the quality of fat / au jus that render off the burger as you bite into it, it's almost impossible to describe how luxurious it is : it turns your hands into silk scarfs, incredibly decadent yet no non sense burger. Perhaps the very best cheeseburger I've had to date. 5 must visit stars.
